VIA Director Features

The VIA Director enables chart plotting and archiving of SWR, Return Loss (RL), Impedance, Resistance, Reactance, Phase Angle and remote analyzer commanding written for use with the AEA Technology Inc. AEA CIA-HF and AEA VIA-HF analyzers. Many of these features are simply not attainable using the analyzer alone!

Command the analyze remotely

  • Change an analyzer's width setting using the application's zoom in/out function.
  • Set the step size to 1kHz, 5kHz, 10kHz, 20kHz, 50kHz, 100kHz, 200kHz, or 500kHz, depending upon the analyzer model selected.
  • Step the analyzer center frequency up or down based upon the step size currently set.
  • Power on or off the analyzer.
  • An Analyzer Control window simulates the front panel of the analyzer. Most of the analyzers front panel functionality is available via the Analyzer Control window.

Analyze an entire frequency band or just a single frequency

Create charts manually

  • Can't get a PC near your antenna during analysis? Data can be recorded during your analysis and then, at a later time, manually entered using the VIA Director to create a chart plot of your data.

Document charts

  • Print the chart plotting area to your printer. A printer setup facility is also included.
  • Save the chart plotting area as a bitmap, meta, or enhanced meta file--useful for historical storage and incorporation into end user reports or documents.
  • Save the active chart to a file for retrieval by the VIA Director at a later date.
  • View or Print a report of the active chart’s raw data values.
  • Export the chart data as a comma delimited text file allowing, for example, import into a speadsheet for further analysis.

Manipulate multiple charts

Use shortcuts for frequently used commands

  • Speed keys allow for quick execution of common program commands without having to access the menu items with the mouse. See the Help|Keyboard menu for more details.

Customize program settings

  • The program settings can be customized to your environment, e.g., the comm. port used, step size, analyzer type, charts displayed, active chart, etc. These preferences can easily be saved so later sessions can continue with the same settings by pressing the Ctrl+y keys or select the Settings|Save Settings menu item.
